NITLE

(National Institute for Technology and Liberal Education)

NITLE is a not-for-profit initiative, created in large part and supported by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, that helps liberal arts colleges create transformative learning experiences for students by taking advantage of emerging technologies in innovative, effective, and sustainable ways. Its mission is to catalyze innovative teaching to enrich and advance liberal education in the digital age.

NITLE collaborates with and encourages collaboration between its participating colleges to develop strategies for integrating new technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and information management.

Working with small, residential liberal arts campuses, NITLE promotes the cost-effective adoption of digital educational materials and tools through faculty and staff development programs, shared resources, and inter-institutional curriculum development. NITLE also provides access to national organizations with expertise on the implications of digital technologies for small colleges.

Colleges and universities that participate with NITLE have an opportunity to influence both the technological and educational environment by demonstrating how emerging technologies can and should be used by liberal art colleges to engage students and enrich their learning experience.

NITLE is an initiative of Ithaka, a not-for-profit organization created by the Foundation to accelerate the adoption of new information technologies to benefit higher education worldwide.
