Senior Portfolio Manager

Monica C. Spencer joined the Foundation in July 2006 as a Portfolio Manager.   In this capacity, she works with the Chief Investment Officer to manage the Foundation’s investment portfolio.  Her focus is in private equity assets, including buyouts, venture capital and distressed debt.

From 1997 to 2006, Ms. Spencer was an investment banker at Merrill Lynch & Co. in New York, where most recently she advised leveraged buyout funds and their portfolio companies on debt and equity offerings, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures.  Ms. Spencer holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Yale College and an M.B.A. from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia, where she was a Shermet scholar.
