Mellon Foundation announced today the appointment of Lawrence R. Ricciardi to its Board of Trustees. Mr. Ricciardi is recently retired from IBM, where he served, variously, as senior vice president and senior advisor to IBM’s chairman, general counsel, and chief financial officer. Before joining IBM in 1995, Mr. Ricciardi was a senior executive at RJR Nabisco and American Express. Prior to joining American Express, he served as counsel to the Overseas Private Investment Corporation and the U.S. Agency for International Development. Mr. Ricciardi serves on the boards of directors of Reader’s Digest and Royal Dutch Petroleum Company, and is senior advisor to the law firm of Jones Day and to Lazard Freres &amp; Co. Mellon Foundation announced today the appointment of Drew Gilpin Faust to its Board of Trustees. Ms. Faust is the Founding Dean of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study (Harvard University) and a leading historian of the Civil War and the American South. She studied at Bryn Mawr College (BA, 1968) and the University of Pennsylvania (PhD, 1975). Prior to joining the Institute in January, 2001, Ms. Faust was Annenberg Professor of History and Director of Women's Studies at the University of Pennsylvania.
