Why Does Affirmative Action Still Matter?

DateMarch 16, 2023
Event Affirmative Action

Today’s learners are tomorrow’s leaders—and the race-conscious policies that inform their admission to college have been divisive for decades. As the country waits for the US Supreme Court to rule on affirmative action, how can we better understand both its complex history and its central role in addressing racial injustice in the United States?

Speakers and guests at this event included:

  • Carter Stewart, executive vice president for programs, Mellon Foundation
  • Sherrilyn Ifill, senior fellow, Ford Foundation and former president and director-counsel, NAACP Legal Defense Fund
  • Stewart Kwoh, co-founder and co-executive director, Asian American Education Project
  • Melissa Murray, Frederick I. and Grace Stokes Professor of Law at NYU

This event was originally livestreamed on March 16, 2023.
